Driver Killed in Augusta Crash on Old Savannah Road

– A fatal car crash occurred on Old Savannah Road in Augusta on Monday, June 26, 2023. According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m. They found a single vehicle that had crashed into a tree. The driver of the vehicle, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. They are asking anyone with information to come forward. Old Savannah Road was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene. This is the second fatal car crash in Augusta in the past week. On June 20th, a driver was killed in a crash on Gordon Highway. The Sheriff’s Office is reminding drivers to obey the speed limit, wear seat belts, and avoid distractions while driving.
