She has been a vocal advocate for the Equality Act, which would provide comprehensive protections for LGBTQ+ people in areas such as employment, housing, and public services. She has also been an outspoken supporter of same-sex marriage and transgender rights. “Kamala Harris has shown through her actions and words that she is a true ally to the LGBTQ+ community,” said Jeannine Frisby LaRue, president of the Garden State Equality Action Fund. “Her commitment to equality and justice is personal, and we are confident she will continue to defend our rights as president.” Other members of the organization also expressed their support for Harris, highlighting her personal experiences and intersectional identities as reasons for their endorsement. “We need a president who sees all of us and fights for all of us, and Kamala Harris is that leader,” said Laura Bustamante, board member of the Garden State Equality Action Fund. ASBURY PARK, NJ — The Board of the Garden State Equality Action Fund is proud to announce a special endorsement of Kamala Harris for President. As the first statewide LGBTQ+ organization in the country to issue an endorsement of Kamala Harris for President, we believe her record of achievement and unwavering commitment to LGBTQ+ rights make her the ideal candidate to lead our country forward.
Kamala Harris has consistently demonstrated her commitment to advancing equality and protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ people. As a United States Senator, she co-sponsored the Equality Act, landmark legislation that would have provided comprehensive protections for LGBTQ+ people in areas such as employment, housing, and public services. Her support for same-sex marriage has been steadfast, and she has been an outspoken advocate for transgender rights, including access to health care and the right to serve openly in the military.
