Murray’s commitment to the team for the 2024 season has been solidified, despite a few down years and previous concerns about his maturity level. Over the past two seasons, Murray has faced challenges, including an ACL tear and uncertainty surrounding his future with the Cardinals. However, recent reports suggest that his relationship with the organization has improved, with coaches and teammates praising his dedication and drive. With a healthy Murray and an improved supporting cast, the Cardinals are optimistic about his ability to reach his full potential. Last season, Murray returned from injury to throw for 1,799 yards and 10 touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to perform at a high level when healthy. The Cardinals have addressed Murray’s lack of supporting talent by drafting wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and running back Trey Benson, who are expected to provide him with additional weapons on offense. Murray’s career stats reveal a promising track record, with 66.6% completion, 15,647 passing yards, and 120 total touchdowns. He has shown flashes of brilliance, but consistency has been an issue. As Murray enters his sixth NFL season, the pressure is on to prove that he has turned the corner. With the support of his team and a refreshed mindset, it seems that things are moving in a positive direction.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has been committed by head coach Jonathan Gannon and general manager Monti Ossenfort for the 2024 season despite a few down years.

Murray tore his ACL 11 games into the 2022 season, just before the Cardinals fired then-head coach Kliff Kingsbury. At the time, there were still open questions about Murray and his future in the desert.

The former No. 1 overall pick had signed a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension with Arizona through the 2022 season. What followed was drama between Murray and the aforementioned Kingsbury. There were also plenty of questions about the quarterback’s maturity level.

Less than two years later, Murray’s relationship with the Cardinals appears to have been renewed, with him receiving mostly positive reviews from within the organization.

“Concerns about Murray’s leadership and preparation have dissipated. Coaches and teammates rave about the quarterback’s dedication and drive. He’s healthy. His supporting cast is better. And he understands what it means to be the face of the franchise,” Doug Haller of The Athletic recently reported.

Murray returned from a torn ACL last season and started eight games, throwing for 1,799 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. At times during the campaign, it looked like he was ready to return to his previous form. But the consistency just wasn’t there.

Arizona also lacked the talent at the skill position to help Murray, which is why the team spent its first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft (No. 4 overall) on star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Arizona also spent a third-round pick on running back Trey Benson.

The hope is that these two young players can make an immediate impact as Murray attempts to turn his career, which was still in its early stages, around.

It wasn’t long ago that Murray was considered the face of the Cardinals franchise, throwing for 66 touchdowns and 22 interceptions in 2020 and 2021.

Now entering his sixth NFL season, the pressure is on Murray to prove he’s turned the corner. At least at this point in the summer, things seem to be pointing in that direction.
