Environment Canada has issued 34 heat warnings across British Columbia

A heat warning is in effect for most of the province, with the exception of the north and west coasts of Vancouver Island and the northwest.

For eastern Vancouver Island and Squamish and Pemberton, the warm weather is expected to continue into the weekend. Daytime temperatures are expected to be in the high 20s to mid 30s, with nighttime lows in the mid teens.

In the southern interior, warm conditions are expected to continue into Monday (22 July). Daytime temperatures are expected to be between 35 and 45 degrees Celsius, with night-time lows in the high teens.

The Kootenays are expected to experience warm weather through mid-week, with daytime highs in the mid-30s and nighttime lows in the mid to upper teens. The region is also experiencing a smoke cloud as wildfires rage in the area.

In Cariboo, the warm weather is expected to continue through mid-week, with daytime temperatures in the mid-30s and nighttime lows around 15 degrees Celsius.

Inland, on the northern and central coasts, warm weather is expected through Sunday.

The southern Peace River region is also under a heat and smoke warning. The warm conditions are expected to continue throughout the week, with daytime highs in the low 30s and nighttime lows in the mid-teens.
