Three Ekiti State Teaching Hospital Staff Charged with Forgery and CheatingThree Ekiti State Teaching Hospital Staff Charged with Forgery and Cheating Three staff members of the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, namely Fatuki Paul, Babalola Adebayo, and Afolayan Ayodele, have been charged with forgery and cheating by the Independent Commission on Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences (ICPC). According to a statement issued by ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare on Thursday, the trio is accused of forging a document and knowingly providing a document with false information with the intent to deceive the principal. The alleged offenses violate sections 467 of the Criminal Code Act Cap C28 LFN 2004 and 17(1)(c) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000. When the charges were read to them before Justice Lekan Ogunmoye of the Ekiti State High Court, all three suspects pleaded not guilty. Despite not opposing the bail applications filed by the suspects’ attorneys, Mr. Rotimi Adabembe and Mr. Busayo Sule, Justice Ogunmoye granted them bail in the sum of two million naira each and two sureties each. One of the sureties must hold a senior position in the Ekiti State government and provide proof of residence within the court’s jurisdiction. The case has been adjourned until October 15, 2024, for a hearing.

Three staff members of the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital have been charged by the Independent Commission on Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences with forgery and cheating.

The trio of Fatuki Paul, Babalola Adebayo and Afolayan Ayodele were on Wednesday arraigned before Justice Lekan Ogunmoye of the Ekiti State High Court.

In a statement on Thursday, ICPC spokesperson Demola Bakare said the suspects have been charged with forging a document and knowingly and corruptly providing a document with false information with the intent to deceive the principal.

The offences are contrary to and punishable under section 467 of the Criminal Code Act Cap C28 LFN 2004, contrary to and punishable under section 17(1)(c) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

However, when the charges were read to them, all three suspects pleaded not guilty.

It said: “The counsel for the suspects, Mr Rotimi Adabembe and Mr Busayo Sule, separately prayed the court to grant their clients bail on generous terms after they entered pleas of not guilty.

“The ICPC’s counsel, Kehinde Adetoye, did not oppose the bail applications filed.

Justice Ogunmoye subsequently granted the suspects bail in the sum of two million naira and two sureties in like sum, one of whom must hold a senior position in the government of Ekiti State and proof of their residence within the jurisdiction must be confirmed.”

He said the matter was further adjourned to October 15, 2024 for a hearing.
