Start/Sit Data Overview

Before each week of the fantasy baseball season, we publish the table below. We list the probable starters for each game of the week and grade them on a scale of 0-100. The idea is to give you some advice and instill some confidence (or lack thereof) in your decisions to start or sit certain pitchers.

Please note that in addition to the usual “Start” and “Sit” labels, there is a third category called “context-dependent.” This is because different leagues call for different actions, and those in start-sit purgatory may be worth a gamble for some. We also post the arms that are best projected to start or get bulk innings, or action-oriented arms that may return from the injured list, but some situations are fluid and we update as quickly as possible to reflect accurate information, especially early in the season.

The “starts” category includes pitchers you’d likely start in any league. The “sits” are pitchers you’d likely leave in any league. The “context-dependent” means it’s close and you’ll have to decide for yourself based on your league setup or team needs (wins, strikeouts, etc.). How deep your league is, what rota/point categories, etc. Let’s get started! Here are your starts and sits for what we’re calling a short week 17 of the fantasy season, which runs from July 19th through July 21st.
