They voice frustration that such incidents seem commonplace, with the reaction often being, “Well, that’s East Mulberry for you.” Law Enforcement Presence Despite the presence of Fort Collins Police Department, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, and the City of Fort Collins monitoring the area, the sheer volume of incidents makes it impossible to be everywhere at all times. In July 2024, an SUV crashed into a hotel room in East Mulberry, adding to the long list of crazy things that have happened in that area. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Mulberry is a major road leading from I-25 into Fort Collins. Although the city continues to try to improve the area, it is still the same old “East Mulberry”.
Ask anyone who lives in Fort Collins or Northern Colorado and they will tell you that East Mulberry is a part of town that you have to be careful about. There is just “something” about the road that is a problem.
East Mulberry Street in Fort Collins is in trouble
It seems like there’s always some weird/crazy/criminal activity going on on East Mulberry; for example, in May 2023, a man barricaded himself in the ceiling of the Waffle House on that road. Another example was in July 2024, when an SUV crashed into a hotel room:
The more of these things that happen, like shootings, drug dealing, sex trafficking, the more people in the area get concerned. But they’re also stunned when they hear that something’s happening: “Well, that’s East Mulberry for you…”
