A Macomb County man plans to purchase a new vehicle, a new home and a cabin after winning the largest Fantasy 5 lottery prize to date.
An unnamed 56-year-old man matched the Fantasy 5 numbers in the June 26 drawing and won $963,040, according to a Michigan Lottery news release.
According to lottery authorities, he plays Fantasy 5 every day and bought the ticket at Smoker’s Express in New Baltimore.
He was at work the day after the drawing when he heard about the big win and even told his wife it was at his regular store, officials revealed. That evening, the couple was finally able to check his ticket and learned he had matched the numbers 04-05-08-22-38.
Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39 and must match all five to win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Drawings are held nightly at 7:29 p.m. ET, with last purchases at 7:08 p.m. ET at retailers or on MichiganLottery.com.
It costs $1 to play, but there are additional options that allow players to win $500 instantly and a second chance to win up to $110,000 in a “Double Play” drawing.
The previous record win in Fantasy 5 was in 2020, when a winning ticket worth $924,880 was purchased online, lottery officials said.
