One driver, Brent Seward, age 33 of South Bruce Township, was arrested for impaired driving after a breath test. He faces the following charges: * Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) Impaired Driving Charges During RIDE Stop During a RIDE stop on Bruce Road 23 in Kincardine on July 11, 2024, at 11:13 p.m., Robert Melanson, age 57 of Hamilton, was charged with impaired driving – blood alcohol content (80 plus) after failing an Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) test. Melanson is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Appeal in Walkerton on September 4, 2024. Theft of Side-by-Side On July 15, 2024, at 6:34 a.m., South Bruce OPP received a report of a theft from Concession 10 in Elderslie Township. A 2019 CF Moto Zforce LXE SXS side-by-side with license plate 1C64V and serial number LCELVYZ16K6001517, valued at approximately $20,000, was stolen between 1:00 p.m. on July 14, 2024, and 6:30 a.m. on July 15, 2024. The South Bruce OPP requests anyone with information on these incidents to contact them at 1-888-310-1122. Here are the latest updates from the South Bruce Division of the Ontario Provincial Police.

On July 15, 2024 at 7:10 p.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Jackson Street, Walkerton in the Town of Brockton.

One of the drivers was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were arrested and taken to a qualified breathalyzer for breath testing.

Brent Seward, age 33, of South Bruce Township was charged with:

One person is facing charges after South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) encountered an intoxicated driver during a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) stop.

On July 11, 2024 at 11:13 p.m., South Bruce OPP conducted a RIDE stop on Bruce Road 23 in the Town of Kincardine. Officers were using Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS), which requires every driver to use an Alcohol Screening Device (ASD). A vehicle entered the RIDE stop and the driver recorded a failure to operate on the ASD.

As a result, Robert Melanson, 57 years old from Hamilton, was charged with driving under the influence – blood alcohol content (80 plus).

The suspect is due to appear in Ontario Court of Appeal in Walkerton on September 4, 2024.

To enhance efforts to deter drunk drivers and make the roads safer, all OPP officers in the Highway Safety Division Detachments in the GTA now conduct mandatory alcohol testing (MAS) as part of every lawful traffic stop.

Drivers are reminded that the federal law on mandatory alcohol testing allows a police officer equipped with an approved breath alcohol testing device to administer a breath test to any driver who has been lawfully stopped without reasonable suspicion that the driver is under the influence of alcohol.

On July 15, 2024 at 6:34 a.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from an address along Concession 10 in Elderslie Township.

Between 1:00 p.m. on July 14, 2024 and 6:30 a.m. on July 15, 2024, a 2019 CF Moto Zforce LXE SXS side-by-side with license plate 1C64V was taken. The stolen side-by-side has serial number LCELVYZ16K6001517 and an estimated value of $20,000.

The South Bruce OPP are asking anyone with information regarding the above events to call 1-888-310-1122.
