He has stated that he is not considering any other offers and is committed to Tottenham’s success. When asked if he would ever reconsider international management, Postecoglou acknowledged his positive experience as Australia’s coach. He is committed to fostering a winning mindset within his team and building a strong foundation for Tottenham’s future.

Ange Postecoglou is focusing entirely on Tottenham’s success rather than considering a return to international management after being linked with the England role.

The English Football Association is looking for a new England manager after Gareth Southgate announced he would be leaving the English club after eight years, two days after the club lost to Spain in the final of Euro 2024.

Australian Postecoglou is reportedly among the coaches being considered, along with England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley, Pep Guardiola, Eddie Howe, Mauricio Pochettino, Jurgen Klopp, Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel.

Postecoglou, born in Greece, was Australia’s national coach for a time before taking over the job at Celtic in 2021.

However, the 58-year-old stressed that his main focus is on Tottenham Hotspur’s preparation for the new Premier League season. His team started their pre-season with a 5-1 win at Scottish Premier League club Hearts.

“I am at the beginning of pre-season and I am the manager of Tottenham, so I have nothing else in mind than trying to make this football club successful,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports News.

“Until I’ve done that, there’s no point in thinking about anything else.

“I took a nap this afternoon so I have no idea what’s going on (with the speculation).”

Asked if he would consider a return to international duty in the future, Postecoglou said: “I enjoyed my time (in Australia). I had four great years.

“We won the Asian Cup and qualified for the World Cup, but all these things always come to a natural end, and I thought it was a natural end for me too.

“I loved coaching the national team. Who knows in the future? Five years ago I was in Japan, and now I’m in the Premier League.”
