WATERTOWN — A new No. 1 team in the Class A rankings is the highlight of South Dakota’s latest amateur baseball rankings.
Renner became the new No. 1 team, winning six of its last seven games. The Monarchs beat the Sioux Falls Brewers — the previous No. 1 team — 11-1 on July 15 to earn a split for the season series. The Brewers won the previous matchup this season, a 10-4 victory at Renner on July 2.
In Class B, Winner/Colome remains No. 1 for the second week in a row, while the Dell Rapids Mudcats sit in second place. Those two teams have held the top two spots in the standings for the last three years. Also in Class B, Redfield moved up from No. 4 to No. 3, while Milbank was the biggest climber in the top 10, moving up four spots to No. 7.
The final amateur baseball poll of the season will be published on July 24, prior to the postseason.
