Nintendo has just announced Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, coming soon SwitchThe game will be released on August 29, 2024.

Last week, the company released a short video for something called “Emio.” Since then, there’s been a lot of speculation about what Nintendo was teasing. Emio: The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club has now been revealed, and it’s the first new Famicom Detective Club story in 35 years.

In Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, a college student is found murdered in a chilling manner, his head covered in a paper bag with a creepy smiling face drawn on it. This disturbing visage bears a striking resemblance to a recurring clue in a series of unsolved murders from 18 years ago, and to Emio (the Smiling Man), a killer from urban legend who is said to give his victims “a smile that will last forever.”

Take on the role of an assistant private investigator at Utsugi Detective Agency, where you must help the police solve this crime. Investigate the clues and testimonies you collect along the way for possible connections to the horrific events of the past.

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club is the first new Famicom Detective Club story in 35 years. This title follows the previously released first and second installments in the series, the most recent of which was a remake for the Nintendo Switch system: Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind.
