Jon Gosselin, who appeared on TLC from 2007 to 2010, gave Alec Baldwin some advice ahead of the actor’s new reality show on the network.

Based on his experience, Jon candidly warned Alec and his wife Hilaria against filming their large family for television.

Jon starred in Jon & Kate Plus 8 with his then-wife, Kate Gosselin, and their eight children, while Alec — whose manslaughter case was dismissed by Rust — and Hilaria now spotlight their seven children.

“I would say, ‘Don’t do it.’ Just because you’ve already made it, you’re a great, award-winning actor,” Jon explained of what he would say to Alec during his interview with ET on Monday.

“I did it for the money in the beginning, because I didn’t know how I was going to support my family,” he added of his reality show resume. “Sometimes I have regrets because they (the kids) didn’t sign the contract, I signed the contract.”

Jon and some of his children have discussed in the past how they feel the show contributed to the breakdown of their family and a lasting estrangement.

Jon and Kate have twins, Mady and Cara, 23, and sextuplets: Alexis, Aaden, Hannah, Collin, Leah and Joel, all 20.

While Hannah and Collin have publicly distanced themselves from their mother, the other six children maintain a close bond with Kate,

“I feel like (the fallout) was more about the network side and us being taken advantage of than the decisions we made. We felt like they forced us into those decisions,” Jon added.

Last month, Alec and Hilaria announced the TLC show, which will provide a glimpse into their private lives along with their seven children: Carmen, 10, Rafael, eight, Leonardo, seven, Romeo, six, Eduardo, three, Maria, three, and Iliaria, 20 months.

The couple “opens up about their lives for the first time and lets everyone in on the never-ending love, laughter and drama,” according to a press release.

In October 2021, Baldwin was practicing a cross-draw maneuver with the revolver when the gun discharged, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.

Baldwin has pleaded not guilty and claims the gun accidentally discharged when he pointed it at Hutchins and pulled back the hammer, causing the gun to discharge.

Last week, tthe judge in Santa Fe, New Mexico dismissed the case, saying the prosecution had made mistakes in handling certain bullets that were considered evidence. According to him, the mistakes had ‘affected the fundamental fairness of the case.’

Prosecutors have argued that a state investigation into workplace safety, which found serious violations on set, was incomplete and unreliable and therefore should not be included in the trial.

In April of this year, Hannah Guttierez-Reed, the gunsmith on the set, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Hutchins’ death and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

The night before the incident, six members of the camera crew quit because they were concerned about safety.

The jury heard that Baldwin commissioned director Souza to write the script, to which he owned the rights. Baldwin starred in the film and was also a producer.

The court heard that Baldwin himself made the set unsafe by waving his weapon at people like a ‘pointer’.

The Baldwins will premiere on TLC in 2025, and showrunners have “already factored the lawsuit into their storylines and production,” a source told The New York Post on Wednesday. In October 2021, Baldwin was practicing a cross-draw maneuver with the revolver when the gun discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza (seen on the set of Rust).

The FBI tested the weapon by striking it from different angles with a raw leather hammer, which broke the weapon.

Baldwin has been charged twice in Hutchins’ death. Prosecutors dismissed an earlier charge but refiled it after receiving a new analysis of the revolver Baldwin pointed at Hutchins.

Since filming resumed in 2021, Rust has resumed filming but moved to Montana under an agreement with Hutchins’ husband, Matthew Hutchins, who named him executive producer.

The completed film is not yet available to the public.
