It is moving east at 15 mph. The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Nelson, west-central Albemarle, southeastern Augusta counties, and Waynesboro. Impacted Locations: * Waynesboro * Stuarts Draft * Sherando * Wintergreen * Afton * Lyndhurst * Nellysford * Greenfield * Greenwood * Afton Mountain Threats: * Wind Gusts: Up to 60 mph, causing downed trees and branches, potential injuries, and damage to homes and vehicles. * Hail: Up to 3/4 inch in diameter, potentially damaging property. Precautions: For your safety, seek immediate shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Avoid being outside and stay away from windows. At 6:48 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was over Sherando, or near Waynesboro, moving east at 15 mph. At 6:55 p.m., a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northeastern Nelson, west-central Albemarle, southeastern Augusta counties, and Waynesboro by the National Weather Service.

The affected locations include: Waynesboro, Stuarts Draft, Sherando, Wintergreen, Afton, Lyndhurst, Nellysford, Greenfield, Greenwood and Afton Mountain.

DANGER: Wind gusts of 60 mph

HAIL: Maximum hail size no greater than 3/4 inch

SOURCE: Radar indicated

IMPACT: Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure people outside and damage homes and vehicles. Roads could be blocked by fallen trees. Local power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects could become projectiles.
