The HSE has opened a new Colorectal Pelvic Floor Clinic at Nenagh Hospital. The clinic is part of the Regional Hub for Women’s Health and is a first in the field. Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Clinical Lead for the Colorectal Pelvic Floor Service, Christina Fleming, said: “This is a streamlined service, offering a significant reduction in patient episodes, as well as reducing the time from symptom development to diagnosis of faecal incontinence, which can be a very debilitating and embarrassing condition for women. “This is another example of the commitment of UL Hospitals Group to deliver on the advancement of treatments for women’s health conditions, which for a long time were under-served, in the Mid-West and nationally.”

The HSE has announced the opening of the new see-and-treat Colorectal Pelvic Floor Clinic at Nenagh Hospital.

The new clinic is part of the Regional Hub for Women’s Health and is a first in the field.

In a statement today, the HSE said reduce the time between the onset of symptoms of faecal incontinence, diagnosis and treatment.

The new clinic has been in the works for 18 months.

Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Clinical Lead for the Colorectal Pelvic Floor Service, Christina Fleming said:

“I’m delighted to play a small part in this. This is a streamlined service, offering a significant reduction in patient episodes, as well as reducing the time from symptom development to diagnosis of faecal incontinence, which can be a very debilitating and embarrassing condition for women.
