The Pierce Purcell team from Cahir Park Golf Club recently travelled to Dundrum for the East Munster v Tramore semi-final, teeing off at 12.30pm. The weather was changeable, ranging from bright sunshine to torrential downpours.

The track was in great condition and the management team of Tom Hickey and John Morrissey had prepared the team well and the boys achieved an excellent victory.

The Saturday pairs were:

– Team 1: Seamus Moran and Conal O’Reilly.
– Team 2: Tomas Walsh and Declan Lonergan.
– Team 3: Willie Morrissey and John Mitchell.
– Team 4: Donal Mullane and John McGrath.

Reserves:
– Barry Maloney and Kevin McGuire.

It was time to rest and regroup with a quick turnaround for the team, Mallow awaited the boys in the final after beating Kinsale in their semi-final.

Cahir started the next day at 11.30am with a slightly modified team.

The Sunday combinations were:

– Team 1: John Molloy and John Cashman.
– Team 2: Barry Maloney and Kevin McGuire.
– Team 3: Willie Morrissey and John Mitchell.
– Team 4: Donal Mullane and John McGrath.

Reserves:
– Seamus Moran and Conal O’Reilly.

The weather was much the same as Saturday. Cahir burst out of the traps and came up quickly. This proved to be the key as they won 3.5 to 0.5 to become East Munster champions.

Congratulations Tom, John and the team. Thanks to all the supporters who were there both days.
