The facility has a cardiac catheterization lab and is overseen by Maimonides Health interventionists Dr. Jacob Shani, chief of cardiology, and Dr. Robert Frankel, director of interventional cardiology. “Every minute counts when a patient is having a heart attack, and now procedures that would have been performed at hospitals down the road can be performed right here in Midwood,” said Diana Immel, RN, vice president of perioperative services. “The new cardiac suite demonstrates our commitment to investing in our hospital to improve services and meet the needs of our growing community for generations to come.” The center began admitting patients on June 25. For those in urgent need of cardiothoracic surgery, rapid transfer to the Heart and Vascular Institute of Maimonides Medical Center is available.

On July 1, a dedication ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the new cardiac unit at Maimonides Midwood Community Hospital.

The facility has advanced equipment and offers emergency and preventive services, such as a cardiac catheterization lab.

The program is overseen by Maimonides Health interventionists Dr. Jacob Shani, chief of cardiology, and Dr. Robert Frankel, director of interventional cardiology.
