Nasrallah stated that if an agreement is reached, Hezbollah will halt its activities against Israel without the need for separate talks. Despite the ceasefire negotiations, Nasrallah emphasized that Hezbollah remains prepared for war and is not deterred by it. He cited the group’s increasing rocket and drone attacks on Israel as evidence of its readiness for conflict. He added that “Hamas is negotiating on its own behalf and on behalf of the Palestinian factions, and also on behalf of the entire Axis of Resistance. What Hamas accepts, we all accept.” Hezbollah began attacking Israeli targets in support of Hamas after the Palestinian group launched an offensive against Israel on October 7, sparking war in Gaza. Hezbollah has characterized its attacks as a “support front” intended to divert Israeli forces from Gaza and aid the Palestinians. The ongoing conflict has forced tens of thousands of Israelis and Lebanese to evacuate the border area, while international observers have expressed concern about the rising risk of a broader conflict.

BEIRUT (Reuters) – Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Hamas was negotiating a ceasefire in Gaza with Israel on behalf of the entire “Axis of Resistance” and that if an agreement was reached, Hezbollah would cease its activities without the need for separate talks.

At the same time, Nasrallah warned that Hezbollah was ready for war and was not afraid of it. As evidence, he pointed to the increasingly large salvos of rockets and drones the group was firing at Israel.

The Axis of Resistance is an alliance built over the years by Iranian support against Israel and American influence in the Middle East.

“Hamas is negotiating on its own behalf and on behalf of the Palestinian factions, and also on behalf of the entire Axis of Resistance. What Hamas accepts, we all accept,” Nasrallah said, speaking in a televised address to lament the recent killing of a top Hezbollah commander.

Hezbollah began firing on Israeli targets on the border in support of the Palestinians after its ally Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7 that sparked war in Gaza.

It has repeatedly labeled its attacks as a “support front” aimed at drawing Israeli military assets away from Gaza and supporting the Palestinians.

Tens of thousands of Israelis and Lebanese have been forced to evacuate from the border area between the two countries, as international observers have warned in recent weeks of the growing risk of a wider conflict.
