Gather’s Fill the Hall Food Drive in Portsmouth Seeks Community Support
Gather, a non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in the Seacoast area, is hosting its annual “Fill the Hall” food drive at the Portsmouth Elks Lodge on Sunday, November 6th, from 12 pm to 4 pm. The Fill the Hall food drive aims to collect enough food to fill the Elks Lodge’s large function hall. Last year, the event collected over 3,000 pounds of food, which provided over 7,000 meals to families in need. “The need for food assistance is greater than ever in our community, especially during the holiday season,” said Erin Monahan, Gather’s Executive Director. “This food drive is crucial to providing meals to those who are struggling to make ends meet.” Gather is seeking donations of non-perishable food items, including: * Canned tuna, salmon, and chicken * Pasta, rice, and beans * Peanut butter and jelly * Cereal and oatmeal * Canned fruits and vegetables * Soup and chili “Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference,” said Monahan. “By working together, we can ensure that everyone in our community has access to healthy and nutritious food.” Members of the public can drop off their donations at the Portsmouth Elks Lodge (500 Cottage Street) on Sunday, November 6th, from 12 pm to 4 pm. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with unloading and sorting the food. In addition to food donations, Gather is also seeking volunteers to help with set-up, registration, and clean-up.
