Noel Gallagher will require a knee replacement due to arthritis.

The 57-year-old Oasis legend is scheduled for surgery later this year as he follows in his estranged brother’s footsteps after Liam, 51, underwent hip surgery last year. Despite both brothers, best known for Oasis hits such as ‘Roll With It’ and ‘Morning Glory’, suffering from similar issues, they remain estranged.

A source revealed that Noel’s ill health is in serious jeopardy and that he is dreading the surgery, but even worse, he is also dreading the recovery as he doesn’t like sitting still for too long.

“Noel is not at all happy about the fact that he needs this knee operation. It’s a sign that he’s on a roll and he’s not very good at lying in bed – unless there’s football on TV.

“Liam had to have hip surgery after a struggle and now Noel is going down the same path. His little brother will no doubt laugh at him for having the same problems as him. Noel will come out on top. It’s a minor operation and it won’t hold him back,” the insider told The Sun.

Noel has a few more gigs with his band The High Flying Birds this summer, but will retire in August. It is thought he will then go on holiday before undergoing surgery. Insiders say Noel has already bought a special exercise bike for a post-op fitness regime.

Noel confirmed on his podcast with buddy Matt Morgan yesterday that he needed the procedure. “I’ve got bad knees actually. I’m having to have surgery on my f***ing knee,” he groaned.

Liam underwent hip replacement surgery in February last year. He said at the time: “My hips are f*****. I’ve got arthritis, bad. I went in and my bones are shattered. I can’t sleep at night because of the pain, the tossing and turning.”
