Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is a recently released Malayalam comedy film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. The film is reported to have had a major part shot on a set in Eloor, Kochi, Kerala. The set of the film was constructed in the area of Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT). Months after the film released, the set was demolished and set on fire. Things changed when the smoke coming out of the fire kept increasing, leaving the residents of Eloor gasping and coughing due to the fire. It has been observed that people living near the area have been severely affected by the smoke coming out of the fire.
The problem started when the contractor’s crew was ordered to demolish the set by burning it. This caused a problem, which resulted in several children inhaling smoke and suffocating in the area. This happened because several piles of waste containing materials such as plastic, fibres and wood were burning. When the locals heard about the fire coming from the piles, they immediately contacted the Eloor fire department. The locals revealed that they warned the film crew not to burn the waste.
Local authorities have announced that legal action will be taken against the crew and makers of the film. Due to heavy smoke coming from the location, the nearby St Anne’s School was closed on Wednesday. Even the residents of the convent next to the school were enveloped in heavy smoke.
Efforts of one unit were not enough to completely extinguish the flames at several places. As a result, fire brigades from nearby areas of Aluva, Thrikkakara, Paravur, Gandhinagar and other locations were also called in to control the fire. Finally, after much effort, the fire and smoke were brought under control.
Talking about Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, the film received a good response when it was released in theatres. Apart from Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film also stars Basil Joseph, Nikhila Vimal, Anaswara Raja and Yogi Babu in important roles. The film was directed by Vipin Das.
