The Bailiff of Jersey says there will be “plenty of opportunities for the general public to soak up the atmosphere” of the royal visit later this month.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will make their first visit to Jersey since ascending the throne in September 2022 on Monday 15 July.

The King and Queen will travel to Guernsey the following day.

The royal visit includes a special session of the States General, which is open to the public.

Jersey Expo Event

Upon arrival in Jersey on Monday, the King and Queen will attend the final seven rounds of a 21st Royal Gun Salute in People’s Park.

The King and Queen will then visit Royal Square for a special sitting of the Estates Assembly and a Loyal Address from the Bailiff of Jersey, Sir Timothy Le Cocq.

After the session, the Royal Court will convene, where a special tribute will be paid to the Lords of the Island.

The King and Queen will later tour the Jersey Expo event, which will feature a range of stalls focusing on the island’s agriculture and aquaculture industries.

Along the route there will be opportunities for the public to “behold Their Majesties on their journey”, according to the Bailiff of Jersey.

The King will then present the new Royal Colour to the Jersey Sea Cadets at the Pomme D’Or Hotel in St Helier.

There will also be a King’s Parade parade, featuring the Band of the Island of Jersey, Jersey Field Squadron, Veterans, Blue Light Services, Cadet Units, Scouts and Guides, which will also take place outside the hotel.

The King and Queen will conclude their visit with a joint tea party on Liberation Square, where they can meet a representative representation of the community on the island.

Public viewing

The royal visit ends with the King and Queen being led by a guard of honour along the Esplanade in front of Liberation Station.

Various parts of the visit are open to the public and there is also the option to watch online via livestream.

The Bailiff of Jersey said more details about where the public will be allowed to view the scene will be announced next week, as well as information about road closures in and around St Helier.
