Canada Soccer announces community clubs for phase one of the Soccer in Schools program, which will come to schools in Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia in fall 2024. Community clubs will partner with Canada Soccer to engage and support their selected schools with nationally developed teacher training, age-appropriate video-based curriculum and an activity booklet for students. For their participation, schools will receive a legacy banner, an equipment pack and a Soccer in Schools digital app, with which they can use the video-based curriculum for years to come.

We are thrilled to see the enthusiastic participation of community clubs from British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan in the first phase of our Soccer in Schools program.

The launch of the Soccer in School program is important as it addresses critical needs and opportunities within the school environment and drives meaningful education for those delivering soccer in schools.

“Soccer in Schools provides teachers with resources developed by our national-level coaches, including a video-based curriculum, training and necessary equipment. The community clubs aim to create lasting connections between schools and players, promoting a vibrant football culture that will inspire the next generation of players and fans,” he added. McConaghy.

Physically, football provides an excellent cardiovascular workout, improving endurance, strength and coordination. Mentally, football helps develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership, while students learn to work together towards a common goal. Socially, football helps build friendships and a sense of community, creating a supportive environment in which students can thrive.

Canada Soccer wants to expand school soccer to other provinces in the coming years. For more information about college soccer, visit canadasoccer.com/soccerinschools.
