On a beautiful stretch of hillside estate in Glen Ellen, a new live music venue has blossomed. The Sonoma Botanical Garden has begun hosting concerts in their amphitheater on Wednesday nights at 5:30 p.m. This “family and Fido-friendly” slice of heaven is a wonderful place to hear some fun, dare I say, soft music in any casual and natural setting.

The bands line up on a semi-circular stage at the foot of a grass-covered, terraced slope, surrounded by oaks, madrone, maples and redwoods. The setting offers the music lover an easy view of the musicians and the Mayacamas in the distance.

Visitors are encouraged to make a night of it; bring a picnic and enjoy a few hours. To enhance the experience, each week a different local winery pours its delicious selections.

The musical act next Wednesday is Petaluma recording artist and solo singer-songwriter Clay Bell. Dee Coco Johnson will take the stage next week.

If the music isn’t enough, you can admire the open-air art exhibition ‘Ribbit Exhibit’ until August 31. There are 23 larger-than-life anthropomorphic frogs on display, spread throughout the visitor area. There’s even three of them on stage, just in case a little melody-hopping harmony is needed.
