US Air Force Academy Welcomes Class of 2028US Air Force Academy Welcomes Class of 2028 The United States Air Force Academy welcomed the Class of 2028 on Tuesday, August 10, 2023. More than 1,100 new cadets from across the country arrived at the academy for a six-week Basic Cadet Training program. The Class of 2028 is the most diverse in the academy’s history, with 40% of the cadets being women and 27% being minorities. The cadets will undergo rigorous training in academics, military skills, and physical fitness to prepare them for their future roles as officers in the Air Force. During Basic Cadet Training, the cadets will learn about the Air Force’s core values, history, and mission. They will also receive training in military customs and courtesies, drill and ceremony, and marksmanship. The cadets will also participate in physical training and conditioning to prepare them for the demands of military life. After completing Basic Cadet Training, the cadets will begin their academic and military training programs. They will major in a variety of fields, including engineering, science, social sciences, and humanities. The cadets will also participate in leadership development programs, physical training, and extracurricular activities. Upon graduation, the Class of 2028 will enter the Air Force as commissioned officers. They will serve in a variety of roles, including flying, space operations, engineering, and intelligence. The cadets will be responsible for leading and inspiring their fellow Airmen to accomplish the Air Force’s mission. The US Air Force Academy is a four-year college that educates and commissions young men and women to become officers in the United States Air Force. The academy is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and is one of the nation’s top-ranked colleges for military service.
