Garden Club’s Generous Donation Secures New Cooling System for Local Community
The esteemed Garden+Club has made a substantial donation that will guarantee the purchase and installation of a much-needed cooling system for the local community. The current cooling system in the community center has been malfunctioning for several years, causing discomfort and inconvenience for residents, especially during the hot summer months. The Garden+Club, recognizing the urgent need for an upgrade, has stepped forward with a generous donation that will cover the full cost of the new system. “We are thrilled to support this important project,” said the President of the Garden+Club. “A comfortable and safe environment is essential for our community to thrive. Garden Club of Indian River County
VERO BEACH – Shining Light Garden Foundation Inc, a nonprofit organization that grows fresh vegetables to help feed the homeless, hungry and forgotten, is now the proud owner of a new cooling system thanks to a $10,000 donation from the Garden Club of Indian River County.
The Garden Club worked with Jasmine Circle to secure the purchase and installation of a new refrigeration system to prevent produce from spoiling while waiting for distribution.
Club members are divided into nine circles. Each Circle has its own president, officers and committee chairs, and conducts its own fundraising activities to support its individual community activities. All Circles come together to conduct general activities including Gardenfest!, ornament sales, and maintenance of the center’s building and grounds.
Several other Circles have also recently donated to the garden, including Allamanda, Poinsettia and Rose Circles. The Garden Club of Indian River County and its nine Circles are consistent donors to Shining Light Garden and many members volunteer there regularly.
The Garden Club of Indian River County supports a variety of local organizations and schools in Indian River County with monetary donations, grants and volunteer opportunities. Members include both novice and experienced gardeners who enjoy learning and supporting the beautification of our province.
Shining Light Garden was founded in 2008 by Joel Bray in Winter Beach. It started as a backyard project and has grown into a 20-acre farm. Since then, Joel’s passion for farming has grown into thousands of bushels of food to help feed the hungry. There is also a flower garden whose generous donations cheer up those in need, such as providing flowers for the VNA Hospice House. Shining Light is a volunteer organization and 100% of all donations are used in the garden.
