Jeanne Sensintaffar, 84

November 29, 1938 – December 18, 2022

Resident of San Leandro, CA Jeanne Sensintaffar, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2022, at the age of 84. Born on November 29, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Jeanne was the youngest of four children. Her family relocated to California when she was a child. She graduated from San Leandro High School in 1956. Jeanne married her high school sweetheart, John Sensintaffar, in 1958. They welcomed two children, John and Laura. The family settled in San Leandro, where Jeanne dedicated her life to her family and community. Passionate about education, Jeanne worked as a substitute teacher for San Leandro Unified School District for over 20 years. She also volunteered countless hours at St. Felicitas Church and School. In her spare time, Jeanne enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan, cheering on the San Francisco Giants and Warriors. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her loved ones. Jeanne is survived by her son, John Sensintaffar (Mary); daughter, Laura Voit (Anthony); grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Michael, and Matthew; and her sister, Carolyn Valles. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sensintaffar; brothers, Arthur and Edward; and her parents, Arthur and Irene Maher. A funeral mass will be held at St. Felicitas Church in San Leandro on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at Century House in San Leandro. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Jeanne’s memory.
