The car first hit a fence and then continued north, crashing into the outdoor bar area of the Lantern Inn & Suites hotel in Sarasota. The impact of the car struck two individuals: a 69-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both from Bradenton. The victims were rushed to local hospitals in critical and serious condition, respectively. The driver of the car was not injured in the accident. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the car continued to crash into a concrete wall and the front of a parked SUV in the hotel parking lot. Debris from the wall struck the SUV and three other vehicles parked nearby. All four vehicles were properly parked. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

SARASOTA, FL — A car drove through the outdoor tiki bar of a Manatee County hotel Monday afternoon, injuring two people, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 63-year-old Lauderdale Lakes man lost control of his car while driving north in the parking lot of the nearby RaceTrac gas station at 7259 U.S. 41 around 3:30 p.m.

He first hit a fence and then continued north, crashing into the outside bar of the Lantern Inn & Suites in Sarasota, hitting two people, FHP said.

The driver then crashed into a concrete wall and the front of an SUV in the hotel parking lot. Debris from the wall struck the SUV and three other vehicles parked in the parking lot. All four vehicles were properly parked, FHP said.

The two bar patrons – a 69-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both from Bradenton – were taken to local hospitals in critical and serious condition.

The driver was not injured in the accident. The cause is still under investigation.
