A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We have received a number of calls from passengers disembarking from trains at Selby railway station reporting a fire on the roof of the former railway staff social club.

“The Selby crew extinguished a wooden pole on the roof of the derelict building, the cause of which was deliberate arson by children.”
