State-owned oil marketing company (OMC) HPCL has reported a significant decline in consolidated net profit for the first quarter (April-June) of 2023-24 (FY25). The net profit declined 90.6 per cent to Rs 634 crore, compared to Rs 6,765 crore in Q1 FY24. The decline was attributed to weak gross refining margins (GRM) and elevated costs.

Commenting on the outlook of Bank Nifty, Kunal Kamble Sr. Technical Research Analyst at Bonanza Portfolio said that Bank Nifty showed promising movement in the first half of the day by outperforming other benchmark indices but failed to sustain the uptrend and closed close to its lows.
Kamble also added that Bank Nifty is currently trading below 51,750, which earlier acted as a strong support level and will now act as a significant resistance. A close above 51,750 could attract buyer interest, while a fall below 50,300 could lead to increased selling pressure.

Stock Market Live Updates Today: Hindustan Petroleum’s Net Profit Falls 90% YoY
Hindustan Petroleum reported a sharp 90% decline in its consolidated net profit for the first quarter of FY25, which stood at Rs 634 crore as compared to Rs 6,765.5 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. The net profit also declined 76.6% sequentially from Rs 2,709.31 crore in the fourth quarter of FY24, due to a reduction in the company’s gross refining margins. Moreover, the decline in fuel prices impacted the company’s marketing margins. The state-owned oil marketing companies had earlier cut auto fuel prices by Rs 2 per litre, the first cut since April 2022.

Bharti Airtel on Monday said it is reallocating its existing 4G spectrum into 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2300 MHz bands to meet the growing traffic demand on its 5G network. Reallocation of spectrum means using the frequency for another technology (in this case 5G) and switching it over from the technology (4G) for which it was originally allocated. The recently passed Telecom Act contains provisions that allow telecom operators to reallocate or use spectrum for technologies other than what it was originally intended for when they acquired it.
