The Canadian National Exhibition has begun its annual process of filling all vacancies at the Ex. More than 37,000 people have registered to work at Canada’s largest trade show so far.

According to officials, the number of applications is a record. Candidates can still apply online on the CNE website, as vacancies are still open.

Candidates of all abilities are encouraged to apply for a variety of seasonal positions.

The CNE is one of the largest employers of young people in the country, with more than 80% of its staff between the ages of 14 and 29.

As the CNE prepares for opening day on August 16, positions to be filled include gatekeepers, information guides, walk-up staff, food handlers and cashiers.

    CNE attracts highest attendance in 25 years

According to the CNE, youth unemployment in Canada between the ages of 15 and 24 rose to a record high of 12.8% from April 2023 to April of this year, the highest rate since 2016.

The CNE generates an economic impact of approximately $112 million for the GTA and $143 million for the province each year. In 2023, the CNE will reach a record attendance of more than 1.6 million visitors.

According to the CNE, 83% of staff identified as young people between the ages of 14 and 29, 78% of staff identified as visible minorities and 15% of staff identified as having a disability in 2023.
