Blue Box Bar, which opened in 2012, will serve its last craft cocktails next month, according to a social media post.

Hot on the heels of the surprise announcement that critically acclaimed Botika restaurant is closing, another component of San Antonio’s Pearl development is throwing in the towel.

Blue Box Bar will close at the end of August after 12 years of serving cool vibes and craft cocktails in the shopping and restaurant complex north of downtown.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Blue Box at the end of next month,” the company said in an Instagram post on Saturday.

The unveiling of the downtown nightlife destination came the day after chef-owner Botika Geronimo Lopez said he will close his Peruvian fusion restaurant on August 4. James Beard Award nominee Lopez has enjoyed a high profile thanks to apparitions on Food Network shows Beat Bobby Flay And Minced meat.

The owners of Blue Box, 312 Pearl Parkway, gave no reason for the impending closure. However, they left open the possibility that the business could return.

“We want to thank everyone for an amazing 12 years of service,” the Instagram post read. “Please stop by, grab a drink, and tip your bartenders. We may or may not be back, stay tuned. Thanks SA.”
