About the role
As a Circular Economy Strategic Delivery Manager, you will be the driving force behind transformative projects aimed at rethinking waste management and sustainability practices across our six boroughs. This role includes:
- Infrastructure Development: Collaborate with city councils and operational teams to implement a new Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) model, focusing on community value reuse and significant improvements to the HRRC.
- Strategic planning: Oversee the design and development of six circular economy hubs, ensuring that they create social value through reuse and repair activities.
- Project management: Lead a dynamic team and manage a project team of 40 people, ensure alignment on project goals and promote a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Budgetary supervision: Manage a £10,000,000 budget, perform profit/loss and ROI analysis and ensure financial investments align with sustainability objectives.
- Compliance with environmental legislation:Keep abreast of current and future waste management regulations and ensure all projects comply with both local and national standards.
- Data analysis and reporting: Use tools such as Microsoft, Power BI, and ArcGIS to deeply analyze project data and generate detailed reports to support strategic decisions.
What we are looking for
We are seeking candidates with extensive experience in managing projects and recycling services, particularly in dealing with performance related issues and managing multiple senior stakeholders. Ideal candidates will:
- Have a diploma or equivalent qualification in a technical, environmental or scientific field.
- Have a relevant qualification in project management (desirable).
- Have experience in managing change and leading teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the financial and policy levers that influence the recycling market.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond flexibly.
