As you may know, Google Hotel Ads will be ending its Pay Per Stay (PPS) bidding model on October 31, 2024.

What is Google Hotel Ads and what is the Pay Per Stay model?

Google Hotel Ads is a metasearch engine, or price comparison site, where you can run campaigns to convert ready-to-book travelers and drive direct bookings. The PPS model is a commission-based bidding strategy, where hotels only pay when the guest stays, with no cancellations or no-shows.

What are the benefits of the Pay Per Stay bidding strategy?

The PPS bidding model, now maintained by Cendyn, allows hotels to manage their campaigns easily and automatically while having access to a certain level of detail. The metasearch engine system automatically optimizes the bids and thus guarantees the distribution costs of the campaigns.

With the PPS model, the commission is due after the customer’s stay. It is free of cancellations and no-shows, so hotels do not have to pay commission on unfulfilled bookings. This simple approach provides extra security to their online distribution and ensures a guaranteed return on investment.

What is changing?

For some hotels, PPS campaigns are important to maintain, so since Google has stopped their PPS model, we at Cendyn have created our own PPS model! This means that hotels can continue the bidding strategy that they have successfully used for years.

When does it start and how can I activate it?

Since July 1, 2024, hoteliers can switch to Cendyn’s PPS model:

  • It is active in all markets with a fixed commission of 10%
  • There is a minimum campaign duration of 3 months
  • Billing takes place on the date of stay (same as Google)
  • Google Free Booking Links free (depending on contract)
