The Allegheny Health Network announced that James Copenhaver was discharged from Allegheny General Hospital on July 26th, following David Dutch’s release on Wednesday. Copenhaver, 74, was severely injured in the shooting and is currently recovering from serious injuries, as reported by his family. The other injured individual, 57-year-old Dutch, has also been discharged from the hospital. Former Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, 50, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries during the rally. Officials have determined that Comperatore was shielding his family when the shooting commenced. Moments after Trump’s rally began on July 13th, gunshots were fired, resulting in a bullet or fragments striking Trump’s ear, as confirmed by the FBI on Friday. The shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who was subsequently killed by a Secret Service sniper. In response to the assassination attempt, the House has established a bipartisan task force to investigate the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future. The task force aims to identify potential shortcomings and ensure adequate measures are in place. The Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle, has resigned due to criticism regarding the agency’s preparedness and her perceived lack of readiness during her congressional testimony. Second protester injured in attempted assassination of Trump released from hospital

The second man wounded in the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump was released from the hospital Friday, an Allegheny Health Network spokesman said Sunday.

“David Dutch was discharged from Allegheny General Hospital on July 24 and James Copenhaver on July 26,” said Dan Laurent, vice president of corporate communications for the health network.

Copenhaver, 74, was seriously injured in the shooting at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Copenhaver’s family said in a statement in the days after the shooting that he was recovering from “life-changing” injuries.

“The Copenhaver family would like to thank you for your continued thoughts, prayers and support as Jim and his family recover from this horrible, senseless and unnecessary act of violence,” the statement said.

The other injured participant, 57-year-old Dutch, was released from Allegheny General Hospital on Wednesday, Allegheny Health said.

Former Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed during the rally. Officials said Comperatore was looming over his wife and two daughters to protect them when the shooting began.

Just minutes into Trump’s July 13 rally, gunfire rang out, with a bullet or fragments hitting Trump in the ear, the FBI confirmed Friday.

Authorities said the shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who was shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper.

The House voted unopposed Wednesday to create a bipartisan task force to investigate the assassination attempt. House leaders said the task force would seek to understand what went wrong so they could ensure it doesn’t happen again.

One form of accountability that many members of Congress were calling for came when Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned last week. Cheatle was criticized by lawmakers who said the agency was ill-prepared to prevent the attack and that her testimony before Congress showed a lack of preparation.
