Representative Cortvriend Announces Re-Election Bid for RI House District 72
Representative Deborah Cortvriend has declared her candidacy for a fourth term in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, representing District 72, which encompasses Middletown and Portsmouth. Cortvriend, a Democrat, has served in the House since 2017. She is a member of several committees, including the House Finance Committee and the House Health, Education and Welfare Committee. In announcing her re-election bid, Cortvriend highlighted her record of advocating for her constituents and working to improve the lives of all Rhode Islanders. “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the people of District 72,” said Cortvriend. “Together, we have made progress on important issues such as affordable housing, healthcare, and education. I am committed to continuing this work in my next term.” During her time in office, Cortvriend has been a vocal advocate for affordable housing. She has worked to pass legislation that increases funding for affordable housing programs and protects tenants from eviction. Cortvriend has also worked to improve healthcare access for Rhode Islanders. She has supported legislation to expand Medicaid and provide affordable health insurance for families.
