The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, on M-53 near 24 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township. According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, the man was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on M-53 when he crossed the center line and struck a 2019 Buick Enclave that was traveling northbound. The driver of the Buick, a 57-year-old Chesterfield Township woman, and her passenger, a 59-year-old St. Clair Shores woman, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The man was arrested for operating while intoxicated causing death and was taken to the Macomb County Jail. The crash remains under investigation.
