Pimpri Hit-and-Run Case: Driver ArrestedPimpri Hit-and-Run Case: Driver Arrested A 20-year-old man named Harish Jalindar Waghmare has been arrested by the Pimpri police in connection with a hit-and-run accident that injured a 56-year-old pedestrian on Sunday afternoon (July 21). The incident occurred on Pimple-Saudagar Road near Pimpri Gaon. The victim, Vijaya Kumar Nayar, was walking towards Mahalaxmi Temple when she was struck by Waghmare’s white car. Nayar sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to Jijamata Hospital for treatment. CCTV footage from the area showed Waghmare trying to avoid a collision with a two-wheeler. In doing so, he swerved his car to the left, where Nayar was standing, striking her and a nearby rickshaw and a two-wheeler. After the collision, Waghmare fled the scene without rendering assistance to the victim. Police were able to identify and apprehend Waghmare based on the CCTV footage. Waghmare has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. The case has been registered and he is currently in custody. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kadlag stated that the Pimpri police responded promptly to the incident and arrested the driver. Nayar’s daughter, Sharanya Saurabh Tiwari (31), has filed a complaint against Waghmare. This incident highlights the importance of responsible driving and the consequences of leaving the scene of an accident. The Pimpri police’s swift response and arrest of the suspect demonstrate their commitment to ensuring the safety of the community.

Poona: Pimpri police arrested the car driver involved in the collision that injured a 56-year-old pedestrian. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon (July 21) on Pimple-Saudagar road near Pimpri Gaon.

The suspected driver has been identified as Harish Jalindar Waghmare (20). Harish and his car were tracked using CCTV camera footage collected and analysed by Pimpri police.

The 56-year-old woman, identified as Vijaya Kumar Nayar, is a teacher by profession. She was walking near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue Square towards Mahalaxmi Temple on Pimple Saudagar Road. Around 1.15 pm, she was suddenly hit by a white car driven by Waghmare.

Vijaya sustained serious head injuries. Locals rushed Nayar to Jijamata Hospital for initial treatment before she was transferred to a private clinic for further care. Meanwhile, Waghmare, the driver of the car, did not stop to help the injured victim and continued driving without stopping.

In the CCTV footage, Waghmare was seen trying to avoid a collision with a two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction. In this attempt, he suddenly turned his car to the left side where Vijaya was standing.

The sudden impact threw Vijaya into the air and she fell on her two-wheeler parked on the road, sustaining head injuries.

Waghmare’s car also collided with a rickshaw and a two-wheeler before the driver fled the scene. Based on CCTV footage, police identified and arrested Waghmare.

Sharanya Saurabh Tiwari (31), daughter of Vijaya Nayar, filed the complaint that led to the case being registered under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Superintendent of Police Ashok Kadlag said, “When the Pimpri police received information about the incident, they immediately responded and sent teams to arrest the driver. The case has been registered and the driver is in custody.”
