His vehicle lacked OnStar or a cell phone, and he has difficulty navigating. Authorities shared Skogen’s photo and vehicle description on social media, urging the public to contact them with any information. Within hours, Skogen was located near Ocheyedan, Iowa, and reported to be in good condition. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the community for their assistance in the search.
Ocheyedan, Iowa — An elderly man with dementia who was reported missing from Jackson County, Minnesota, on Thursday has been found safe in northwest Iowa.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the man, Ordell Skogen of Jackson, was reported missing Thursday afternoon. They say he left his home in a red 2016 Toyota Rav 4 heading in an unknown direction. Police say the vehicle did not have service such as OnStar and he did not have a cell phone. They say Skogen has no sense of direction.
Photos of a similar vehicle and of Skogen were shared on social media, and the office asked people to contact them if they had any information.
He was found a few hours later near Ocheyedan and was said to be in good condition.
