After the lunch adjournment, the Opposition raised the issue, demanding an immediate discussion. However, Speaker Dr. Raman Singh rejected their motion, triggering a chorus of slogans and a mass exodus of Congress MLAs to the Well of the House. Amidst the uproar, the suspended MLAs refused to vacate the Well, disrupting proceedings. BJP members, including Bhawana Bohra and Ajay Chandrakar, voiced their concerns over a recent murder in Kabirdham district. In a bid to restore order, Finance Minister OP Choudhary tabled the first supplementary estimate for the financial year 2024-25. However, the House was adjourned prematurely by Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, with discussions on the estimate postponed until Tuesday. The incident has cast a pall over the Assembly, with tensions remaining high between the ruling and opposition parties.

Raipur: Chaos broke out on the first day of the monsoon season in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly as Congress members protested against the Balodabazar incident, in which the offices of the Collector and SP were set on fire on June 10.

After the lunch break, the proceedings resumed at 3 pm with Leader of the Opposition Dr Charan Das Mahant urging Speaker Dr Raman Singh to accept the Opposition motion for a discussion on the arson and violence in Balodabazar. When the motion was rejected, all the Congress members went to the Well of the House where they chanted slogans against the BJP-led government of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and demanded his resignation.

In response, Speaker Dr Raman Singh announced automatic suspension of all Congress MLAs entering the Well. Despite the Speaker’s request to leave, the suspended members continued their protest in the Well.

Meanwhile, amidst all the outrage, BJP MPs Bhawana Bohra and Ajay Chandrakar expressed concern over the recent murder of a farmer in Birkona village, Kabirdham district. This caught the attention of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.

Finance Minister OP Choudhary then presented the first supplementary estimate for the financial year 2024-25. Speaker Dr Raman Singh concluded by announcing that discussions on the estimate would resume on Tuesday, adjourning the sitting of the House till 11 am the next day.
