Dalata Hotel Group Sees Improvement in DemandDalata Hotel Group Sees Improvement in Demand Dalata Hotel Group, Ireland’s largest hotel operator, has reported an improvement in demand for its hotels in recent weeks. The group, which has over 40 hotels in Ireland, the UK, and Continental Europe, said that occupancy levels have increased in the past month, driven by a combination of corporate travel and leisure bookings. “We are seeing a gradual recovery in trading across our key markets, particularly in the corporate segment,” said Dalata CEO Pat McCann. “This is being supported by the rollout of vaccination programs and the easing of travel restrictions.” The group said that it expects demand to continue to improve in the coming months, as more people return to business travel and leisure tourism. “We are cautiously optimistic about the outlook for the rest of the year,” said McCann. “We believe that there is pent-up demand for travel and that our hotels are well-positioned to benefit from this.” Dalata’s positive outlook is in line with other recent reports from the hotel industry. Earlier this month, Hilton Worldwide said that it expects global occupancy levels to reach 60% in the third quarter of this year. The improvement in demand for hotels is a welcome sign for the industry, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, hotel occupancy levels in Ireland fell to just 20%, the lowest level on record. Dalata Hotel Group’s results are a sign that the hotel industry is slowly starting to recover from the pandemic. The group’s positive outlook is likely to be welcomed by investors and the wider Irish economy.
