A courier who was attacked by a dog while delivering parcels said she thought she was finished.

Sarah Bound, from Brynmenyn, Bridgend, was taken to hospital after police were called to the scene on the A4063 in the Coytrahen area of the city at around 13:20 BST on Monday.

The 39-year-old woman was on her way to a regular delivery route for Evri, but said things “suddenly went wrong” when she arrived at a house she had previously delivered to.

“I really felt like I was in a movie… it was really horrible and the pain was ridiculous,” she said.

Mrs. Bound said she first heard the dog barking, but then the dog “just jumped over the fence, came right at me and cornered me in the doorway.”

She described the dog as a herding dog, adding that the dog only stopped attacking when its owner came around the corner and pulled the dog off her.

“If she hadn’t come around, that dog would have continued to attack me and it would have been much worse,” she said.

The attack left her with three stab wounds, scars and bruises.

She was taken to hospital and given a tetanus shot and antibiotics.

“After four days I still have stabbing pains in my arms and they are still bleeding,” she said.

Mrs Bound said the attack had affected her both mentally and physically.

“It’s weird. I deal with dogs every day and I’ve never been afraid of them. But now I’m not so sure anymore. It really makes you question it,” she said.

“I’ve been thinking about it, what if it was a child, what if the owner hadn’t shown up? It’s a very bizarre situation and my friends and partner are telling me it’s not right.”

She added that she didn’t blame the dog or the owner, but wanted to make sure no one else got hurt.

“I may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, but something has to be done about the dog,” she said.

“I haven’t heard from the owner since then and I don’t think that’s right. I hope that changes because this can’t happen to anyone else.”
