Hotel owners Romeo and Guglielmo Piperno have incorporated their passion for modern and contemporary art into the design of the hotel, with each of the 24 guest rooms featuring its own distinctive artistic touches. The hotel’s artwork rotates regularly, featuring works by established and emerging artists such as Ed Ruscha, Sandro Sanna, Elle De Bernardini, and Travis Fish. The neutral walls and marble accents of the interiors provide a perfect backdrop for the artwork, allowing it to take center stage. The hotel’s common areas are also adorned with artwork, creating a stimulating and immersive experience for guests. The result is a hotel that is not only a place to stay, but also a destination for art lovers. Here are some specific examples of the artwork on display at the Borghese Contemporary Hotel: * Bedroom suite with artwork by Ella De Bernardin * Hall with artworks by Sandro Sanna and Cristallo Odescalchi * Breakfast area with photography by Massimo Listri * Stairwell with a work of art by Cameron Welch * Hotel bar with artwork by Aaron Young and Cameron Welch * Bar seating area with artwork by Travis Fish In addition to the artwork on display, the hotel also hosts regular art exhibitions and events. Today, many world-class hotels house visual art, but the new Borghese Contemporary Hotel, which has no connection whatsoever with the famous Galleria Borghese a kilometre away, also functions as an exhibition space.
The Rome hotel, just off Via del Corso, spotlights modernists and emerging talent, from Ed Ruscha and Sandro Sanna to Elle De Bernardini and Travis Fish, and rotates them in. Owners Romeo and Guglielmo Piperno designed the common areas and each of the 24 guest rooms with their own distinctive artistic touches. “Each space is designed with art at the center,” says Romeo. “Each environment is connected by an artistic fil-rouge, with different works that leave an impression and give the spaces personality.”
‘Modern and contemporary art has always been a great interest of ours,’ Guglielmo adds. ‘The hotel combines our deep passion for art – initially modern art and increasingly expanding to contemporary art – with the family tradition of hoteliers.’
The interiors echo the cream-colored, columned exterior, with neutral walls and marble accents that help set off the artwork. Guestrooms are finished with Loro Piana fabrics and Flos lighting.
