Pizza Hut attempts to break record for world’s largest pizza
Pizza Hut believes they have broken the world record for the world’s largest pizza after creating a pizza measuring almost 15,000 square feet.

Construction workers are busy modernizing and reopening the old Pizza Hut building on the north side of Corning.
The East Pulteney Street location was one of 17 Pizza Hut restaurants that closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other closures included locations in Elmira, Hornell and Bath. Pizza Hut returned to Elmira in November 2022 with a delivery and takeout location, and now it’s set to return to Steuben County.
While an official opening date for the Corning Pizza Hut has not yet been announced, Corning officials hope to have the restaurant open before the end of the summer.
“It’s great to see progress being made with the reopening of Pizza Hut in our Northside neighborhood,” said Coleen Fabrizi, executive director of the Corning Gaffer District.
Work recently completed by crews at the Pizza Hut location included the installation of a new sign in front of the property and another on top of the building, along with roof upgrades. Interior work continues.
CAP6 LLC acquired 55 E. Pulteney St. in October 2021 for $400,000. CAP6 LLC officials could not be reached for comment.
Fabrizi said the reopening of Pizza Hut on Pulteney Street will have a positive impact on the Gaffer District and Corning as a whole.
“It would be great to have it back in the dining offering as we continue to celebrate our designation as a Bon Appetite Dining destination,” said Fabrizi.
The Pizza Hut eateries were all temporarily closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the local franchisee has decided to make the closure permanent, a Pizza Hut spokesperson said.
A spokesperson said at the time that Pizza Hut had plans to bring new franchisees to the region.

Pizza Hut was founded in 1958 and is owned by Yum Brands, which also owns Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell.
