In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old boy from Sibu, Sarawak, was beaten by the public after he stubbornly insisted on continuing to drive despite being underage. The incident occurred on May 10, 2023, when the boy was caught riding a motorcycle without a license. Members of the public confronted him and demanded that he stop riding, but the boy refused. Footage of the altercation went viral on social media, showing the boy being surrounded by a group of men. Despite being repeatedly asked to get off the motorcycle, he continued to resist and ignored their pleas. Witnesses reported that the boy appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was seen slurring his words and behaving in an erratic manner. In an attempt to subdue the boy, the public used sticks and umbrellas to try to force him off the motorcycle. The boy fought back, kicking and punching the people around him. The situation escalated when one of the men struck the boy with a heavy object, knocking him unconscious. He was then taken to the Sibu General Hospital for treatment. The boy’s actions have been met with widespread condemnation from the public. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently interviewing witnesses. The boy is expected to face charges of riding without a license and causing public disturbance. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of underage driving and the importance of parental supervision. It is illegal for children under the age of 16 to ride motorcycles in Malaysia, and parents who allow their children to do so can face legal consequences. It is crucial for parents to set clear boundaries and rules for their children regarding dangerous activities like driving.
