Fatal Motorcycle Crash Shuts Down Mount Prospect Road

– A tragic motorcycle accident has resulted in the closure of a major thoroughfare in Mount Prospect. On Thursday, August 11, 2023, at approximately 7:30 PM, Mount Prospect police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Briarwood Drive. According to preliminary investigations, a motorcycle traveling westbound on Algonquin Road collided with a vehicle making a left turn onto Briarwood Drive. The impact of the collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the bike. Tragically, the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. As a result of the accident, Algonquin Road between Wilke Road and Washington Street has been closed in both directions. Traffic is being diverted onto side streets, causing significant delays in the area. Mount Prospect police are urging motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours while the investigation continues. The identity of the deceased motorcyclist has not yet been released.
