The event, titled “Keeping the SDG Promise: Pathways to Acceleration,” will review the progress made through High Impact Initiatives (HIIs) supported by the UN development system and other partners at the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Summit. In his address, Dr. Elbadawi is expected to emphasize the crucial role of investment in accelerating SDG progress. The event will also showcase countries and programs that are leading the way in mobilizing investments for critical SDG transitions. The 2024 HLPF will be held under the theme “Strengthening the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions.” It will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in achieving the SDGs in the face of ongoing global crises. The 2024 High-level Political Forum (HLPF) will be convened under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council (8-17 July 2024). The theme of the forum is “Strengthening the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”.
