Aventon Bikes offers free extra batteries along with a purchase of select e-bike models at their regular prices. Since the tariff exclusions expired on June 14, the prices of e-bikes and their components in general have increased and in response Aventon is only offering free batteries for double mileage to offset the extra cost. Still, the batteries are valued at $500 each and getting double mileage on these quality e-bikes is certainly not a bad trade-off, as much as it hurts not to see a price reduction. There is a tried and true choice in the Abound Cargo e-bike that is now available for $1,999 shippedReady to haul everything from luggage to kids – and it’s also the only model that comes with a bunch of free goodies: an extra battery, a bamboo rack shelf, a rack seat cushion, a handrail, large panniers and a handlebar bag – all valued at $894.
The Abound has remained my favorite e-bike under the Aventon banner since I first became interested in electric vehicles (though I may be biased towards cargo e-bikes in general). It has a clean and simple design, equipped with a 750W rear hub motor that can reach up to 20 MPH alongside an integrated 720Wh battery that gives you a range of 50 miles on a single charge – increased to 100 miles with the free extra battery. It has an on-demand throttle, or you can take advantage of the four levels of pedal assist assisted by a torque sensor (which we like to see). It comes with a wide variety of accessories for added versatility in use, including fenders for both tires, the 143-pound rear rack, a backlit LCD display, a Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and integrated front and rear lights with brake and turn signal functionality.
