Governor Seyi Makinde unveiled the platform in Ibadan, describing it as a significant milestone in improving the state’s land management system and ensuring transparency. The platform, developed in collaboration with fiscal advisors PNN Limited, allows residents and stakeholders to verify property titles, check records, and understand zoning laws online. The Commissioner for Spatial Planning, Housing and Urban Development, Funmilayo Williams, highlighted the platform’s role in improving service delivery and simplifying property searches. The Head of Service, Olubunmi Oni, emphasized the platform’s alignment with the state’s development roadmap and its potential to boost economic growth. Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mofoluke Adebiyi, stated that the platform promotes transparency and accountability in real estate transactions. Managing Director of Private Networks Nigeria Limited, Ladigbolu Ayodeji, praised the government’s use of technology to reduce bureaucratic hurdles and increase efficiency. Key stakeholders, including surveyors and representatives from the Nigeria Bar Association, attended the launch, calling for public education on the platform’s operation.

The Oyo State Government on Monday announced that it has digitized a total of 438,091 property titles cards for public access using existing technological support.

This was disclosed during the launch of the online property title search platform by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday.

During the launch at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, the Governor described the platform as a major achievement that marks a significant milestone in his administration’s journey towards a more efficient and transparent land management system.

The Governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Segun Ogunwuyi, said the online property search platform developed by the Oyo State Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in collaboration with its fiscal advisors, Messrs. PNN Limited, is a veritable tool to enhance, transform and digitalize the property search process in the state.

“We have promised the people of the state to simplify land management processes and further improve documentation of private lands. Today, with the launch of this online portal, we are taking a decisive step forward in simplifying the process of acquiring and registering properties in Oyo State.

“This initiative not only aligns with our government’s commitment to using technology to deliver public services, but also underscores our dedication to ensuring that every citizen has equal access to information and resources,” he said.

The Governor said it was a journey of collaboration and determination and commended the Ministry of Land Affairs for their tireless efforts in bringing this platform to fruition.

Also, the Commissioner for Spatial Planning, Housing and Urban Development, Mr Funmilayo Williams, indicated that the platform will improve service delivery by moving from manual property searches to an online system.

Mr Funmilayo said the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has a wide range of responsibilities, including supervising and monitoring physical development activities, formulating and implementing housing policies and programmes, and designing government location and service delivery plans.

The Governor added that the platform is also a testament to the Department’s commitment to using technology to improve the lives of our citizens.

It represents a new era of accessibility, convenience and inclusivity in the real estate sector, empowering citizens to make informed decisions about their real estate choices, driving economic growth and strengthening our global competitiveness.

He urged all stakeholders, from citizens to investors, to embrace the new era of accessibility and efficiency.

He called for efforts to ensure that the benefits of the new platform reach all corners of the state, thus boosting prosperity and sustainable development for future generations.

The Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, noted that the launch of the online platform marks a crucial step forward in the concerted quest for innovation, transparency, efficiency and accessibility in real estate ownership and transactions within the land sector in Oyo State.

She commended the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development for the laudable idea of ​​embracing technology to improve service delivery to the people of Oyo State.

“The online property search function will make the process easier, more convenient and faster, allowing citizens to search for properties anywhere in the world,” she said.

She said the ministry’s vast tasks can be carried out more effectively and efficiently with minimal challenges thanks to the support of technology-driven innovations such as the online property search platform.

“This is in line with the Oyo State Roadmap to Sustainable Development 2023-2027, which promises to develop programmes to make land banks available for housing construction” and “widen the tax net to capture about 90% of the population who currently do not pay land use fees,” she said.

She warned officials who will lead the process to ensure that the technology-driven property search launched today is owned by them.

“They must be willing to provide regular data updates and be willing to learn,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs Mofoluke Adebiyi, said the launch comes as a result of a retreat by staff of the ministry for better service delivery.

She said the platform will promote transparency in real estate transactions and encourage accountability through easy access to accurate real estate information.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Private Networks Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ladigbolu Ayodeji, said the platform will provide authorized individuals and organizations with easy access to real estate information and transaction data from anywhere in the world.

He commended the Oyo State government for deploying technology, adding that the platform will reduce bureaucratic hurdles in seeking property information and increase efficiency.

Key stakeholders including surveyors and representatives of the Nigeria Bar Association attended the event, calling on the wider public to sensitize citizens on the operation of the platform.
