This marks a significant milestone for the Danish airline, as it becomes the first to operate a Boeing 777. Increased Capacity and Efficiency The Boeing 777F boasts a maximum payload capacity of 102,000 kilograms and a range of up to 9,200 kilometers. This increased capacity and efficiency will enable Maersk Air Cargo to offer up to six direct weekly flights between China and Northern Europe. The airline plans to receive a second 777F later in Q3. Improved Customer Experience The 777F’s temperature-controlled cargo decks and Onboard Network System enhance the reliability and flexibility of Maersk Air Cargo’s services. Customers will benefit from improved availability of space and the ability to track their cargo in real-time. Executive Perspective Narin Phol, Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer for Logistics and Services at Maersk, emphasized the strategic importance of the Boeing 777Fs. He stated that they “are a huge step forward in what we can offer our air cargo customers in the future” by increasing efficiency, improving space availability, and providing greater resilience in a disrupted logistics environment. Technical Highlights The Boeing 777F is equipped with GE90 engines, known for their reliability and fuel efficiency. It can accommodate pallets up to 3 meters high on its main deck and features state-of-the-art technology for connected cargo. Continued Growth and Expansion Maersk Air Cargo remains a leading player in the global air freight market, ranking among the top 20 forwarders worldwide. The acquisition of the Boeing 777Fs aligns with the company’s strategy to expand its capabilities and offer comprehensive supply chain solutions to its customers.

  • Maersk Air Cargo receives first Boeing 777 from Danish airline
  • Arrival in Billund (DK) scheduled for July 13, second 777F to arrive later in Q3
  • Up to 6 direct weekly flights between China and Northern Europe with increased capacity

Maersk Air Cargo has taken delivery of the first of two new Boeing 777Fs. It is the first Boeing 777 from a Danish airline. The handover was celebrated at Boeing’s headquarters in Seattle, USA. Maersk Air Cargo is part of global logistics integrator AP Moller – Maersk. Maersk’s first Boeing 777F is scheduled to arrive at its home airport Billund in Denmark on Saturday 13 July.

From a commercial perspective, the two Boeing 777Fs are a huge step forward in what we can offer our air cargo customers in the future. In addition to enabling a much more efficient route structure, structuring our 777Fs will improve the availability of space for our customers as we see growing demand for integrated supply chain solutions that include air. Due to the disruptive environment in logistics, an increasing number of cargo owners are choosing to reduce the number of service providers in their supply chain. Greater visibility across fewer providers allows cargo owners to react faster and in a much better informed manner in the event of disruption. Availability of air cargo capacity and full control over assets are key aspects in this regard. Both increase the levels of resilience, visibility and flexibility that are essential in these disruptive times.
